Police canine units likely saved the life of a man who was found hypothermic and barely conscious after spending over 11 hours outdoors in East Billerica Friday night. Deputy Chief Roy Frost said he could not identify the man because the call involved medical and mental-health issues, but Frost said the man had been missing for about 10 hours by the time police were notified Friday about 10 p.m. Frost said police requested help from the North Eastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council's canine unit, which sent dogs from more than a half-dozen member towns to search for the man in wooded areas around Whipple Road and George Brown Street near the Tewksbury town line.
